6 teams enter. 6 league teams leave.
Our inaugural game for the 2015-2016 Question Block Season 4 featured 6 teams dedicated to winning the awesome trophies presented to The Woodmen at today’s game. This season will also prove to be an exciting one, with SIX LEAGUE TEAMS vying for the season championships at SRGE 2016!
The teams created a cash prize pool of $30, and our half-time prize pool consisted of brand new prizes, including a not-quite-a-mii Mario figure, a sealed copy of Age of Empires Online, and Popcap Wall Nut hat, just like this! (not to mention free beer)!
Round 1 challenged teams to name major players from The Industry of videogames. The round was dominated by 2 Live Crew, one of the regular teams that was down to a two person team. 2LC managed to get all but one question correct, giving them an early lead!
Next up, round 2 was all about The Moon! Players were given images from games across a variety of platforms and years that featured the moon, and were asked to name the game featuring the moon. 2 Live crew got a perfect score, but faced stiff competition from Season 3 Champions: The Woodmen (yes that was their team name) and newcomers 12-Bit Ninjas, who also got perfect scores this round.
I’ll let this video explain round 3 (Backward Compatability). Or perhaps, Mike Norman’s Shower Dads can explain the round, as they were the only team to correctly name all 8 defunct video formats in this month’s non-videogame round!

By the way, here’s our Half-Time Bonus Question on Facebook:
Of all the games available on Nintendo’s Play Choice 10 arcade machine, only one was never released in the US as a standalone NES game. What was it?

Before starting the second half of trivia, we had our half-time round. Directly related to our Half-Time Bonus question, we asked teams to name all of the games that were A) available as Play Choice 10 games AND B) published by Nintendo. There were 18 games total, FYI; you can find the complete list on Wikipedia.
Round 4, our traditional audio round, featured Game Audio From the 32-bit Era, specifically the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Once again, Mike Norman’s Shower Dads demonstrated strong trivia skills, earning a perfect score along with 2 Live Crew.
Our video round this month was a double-point round. Teams would watch video from a game, then name the game for 1 point, and the platform on which that version of the game was being played for another point. It may sound difficult, but all teams fared well, with everyone earning over 10 points. Nobody scored perfectly, but The Rumble Pak managed to tie for most points in the round, getting 14 correct answers out of 16!
Our Final Round, simply known as VIDEO GAMES, featured a grab bag of general trivia. As in previous seasons, the final round questions increase in value from 1 to 5, with incorrect answers counting against a team’s final score. With a max possible score of 15 points, the highest score came from Season 3 Champions: The Woodmen with only 5 points!
In the end, The Woodmen’s competitors rose to the challenge, with 2 Live Crew taking 1st place in our season opener! Congratulations to all the teams who played this month’s game, and thanks for coming out and playing!
Rad Scorpians edged out the 5th place team by just a single point to earn the honor of naming a round in December’s game. The Player’s Choice round is Spiel de Jahres. I recommend you click that link, and study up!
