Episode 01 – August 30th
Anniversaries
6 teams enter. Juan team leaves.
Our inaugural game for the 2016-2017 Question Block Season 5 featured 6 teams dedicated to winning the awesome trophies presented to The Woodmen at SRGE 2016.
The teams created a cash prize pool of $30, and our half-time prize pool consisted of brand new prizes, including a t-shirts, games, and of course free drinks from the bar!
Round 1 challenged teams to answer questions from the month in Video Games!
Next up, round 2 was all about the Super Nintendo! Players were given zoomed in images from SNES games and tasked with naming them based on the image. The Spoony Bards, You Sir Are A Blight, and #NumberJuan all scored perfectly in this round!
#Juan also took first in our non-video game round, ’80s Sci-Fi & Horror Movies!
This game marked our first half-time lightning round. Everyone seemed to enjoy the round, so expect to see more of it in the future. Curious about what it is? You’ll have to come out to the next game to find out!
Round 4, our new Spotlight round focused on PlayStation Plus!
In the video round, we focused on the Game Boy, showing clips from Game Boy games and asking teams to name the franchise featuring the game shown. Nobody scored a perfect 14, but The Spoony Bards and The Woodmen both got 13 points for the round.
Our Final Round, Anniversaries featured a series of questions about video game anniversaries. As in previous seasons, the final round questions increase in value from 1 to 5, with incorrect answers counting against a team’s final score. With a max possible score of 15 points, the highest score came from #NumberJuan with 11 points, beating out the next best score of 4 points!
In the end, #NumberJuan, aka Juans of Gamelon, took 1st place in our season opener! Congratulations to all the teams who played this month’s game, and thanks for coming out and playing!
