It’s Anyone’s Game… Blouses
The second game of Season 5 polarized our teams, as the questions leaned heavily towards modern gaming culture. 7 teams showed up to fight for prizes, beer, and cash monies in the Gaelic Room at Wilde Rover.
The teams created a cash prize pool of $35, and our half-time prize pool consisted of brand new prizes, including a marshmallows, players guides, and of course free drinks from the bar!
Round 1 challenged teams to answer questions from This Month in Video Games! Teams competed for an early lead, with nobody getting a perfect score. Bitter rivals The Woodmen and Rogue Juan: A Trivia Story (aka Juans of Gamelon) performed best with 7 points each.
Round 2 was our graphic round as well as our player’s choice round, Sierra Entertainment! Super Ultra Trivia Team 2.5 HD Remix: Tournament Edition provided the topic, and it led to a tough round, again pushing all teams to achieve a max of 7 points out of 8. Game Blouses managed to get a great score in this round, putting them in a good position early on.
#Too Many Typeface, Do Creepers Dream of Digital Sheep, and The Rumble Pak all did an excellent job pulling into the running with the first perfect scores of the night in our non-video game round, 8-bit Movies!
Our second half-time lightning round using the new format earned many people some great half-time swag and free drinks. Curious about the new format? You’ll have to come out to the next game to find out!
Round 4, our new Spotlight round focused on Sega’s development teams. We gave teams the name of a developer and a game they made, and teams had to identify if that developer was based in the US or Japan. The Game… Blouses got a perfect score in this round, quickly catching up to The Woodmen.
Our controversial video round, YouTube Celebrities, was a divisive and game-changing round. Every team scored 50% or less except one, the Game… Blouses
Our final round, The New Mythologies, asked our teams about lore, stories, and background details on 5 current gen franchises. A brutal round, only 3 teams scored positively, with only 1 team *cough*TheRumblePak*cough* managing to score more than 1 point!
In the end, the Game Blouses wrested this month’s top prize from all the other teams, taking the crown in the Question Block! Congratulations to all the teams who played this month’s game, and thanks for coming out and playing!
Super Ultra Trivia Team 2.5 HD: Tournament Edition earned the honor of naming a round in October’s game. The Player’s Choice round is ’80s Horror TV Shows. See you next month!
