Episode 03 – October 25th

The Horror. THE HORROR!!
The third game of Season 5 looked toward the dark side of gaming as we approached the scariest time of the year… the presidential election! 6 teams joined forces to fight the good fight and keep the willies at bay.
The teams created a cash prize pool of $30, and our half-time prize pool consisted of brand new prizes, including a factory sealed games, players guides, and of course free drinks from the bar!
Round 1 challenged teams to answer questions from This Month in Video Games! Once again, no team achieved a perfect score. The Woodmen and upstart Game… Blouses matched wits with 7 points each.
Round 2 was our graphic round, Pokemon Fusion! Teams had to name the two pokemon fused together (Try out the tool we used to create these Pokemon fusions right here) for one point each. Both The Rumble Pak and BoooOOOoooOOoze managed to score perfect points in this round AND in round 5!
Our player’s choice round, ’80s Horror TV Shows, proved difficult for most teams, but The Woodmen managed to eke out 8 out of 8 going into the break.
Our third half-time lightning round using the new format earned many people some great half-time swag and free drinks. Curious about the new format? You’ll have to come out to the next game to find out!
Round 4, our new Spotlight round focused on that most niche of categories, Video Game Podcasts! Teams fought valiantly to identify each audio clip, but only Bad Hombres & Nasty Women (aka the Juans of Gamelon) were bad enough dudes to get 5 points from this tough round of trivia.
Super Ultra Trivia Team 2.5 HD Remix: Tournament Edition scored well in round 5, Nightmare Fuel, identifiying 7 or the 8 glitched out games in our video round.
Our final round, Emulation, asked our teams questions regarding that most venerable of crimes, ROMZ and the software that plays them. Nobody got a perfect score, but Bad Hombres & Nasty Women managed to top out the round with 10 points out of a possible 15
In the end, The Juans of Gamelon claimed their second win of the season, taking the crown in the Question Block Video Game Trivia! Congratulations to all the teams who played this month’s game, and thanks for coming out and playing!
